Interested in wet underfloor heating but unsure if you can power it using your existing combi boiler? There’s good news – you can!
Underfloor heating is very versatile – it can be powered by combi boilers, traditional gas boilers and heat pumps – whatever works best for you and your set-up.
Running wet underfloor heating with a combi boiler
If you’re adding an extension to your home or doing some renovations – for example, a new kitchen or bathroom, you may choose to invest in underfloor heating. Imagine – no more chilly kitchen tiles in the morning or when brushing your teeth at night!
This would mean running your underfloor heating with your existing boiler and radiators. Although some people may be concerned that this is not possible, I’m happy to report that it is; adding wet underfloor heating to an extension is a very common job for us.
Typically, we’d flush the system and then upgrade the boiler controls to make it suitable for use with underfloor heating. We would also recommend changing to a weather compensation control to keep your home at a steadier temperature and run your boiler more efficiently.
Don’t take it from us, here’s what our happy customers say…
“With the Weather Compensation control, the boiler runs at a lower flow rate, on average at 40 degrees centigrade, so it saves on gas usage. An unexpected benefit for us has been getting a room back in the house, which we would have previously shut off to save on energy costs. I would highly recommend Tom Plumb; the difference the Weather Compensation control has made is huge!” – Mrs Crewsdon.
